清朝康熙二十三年间，康熙帝南巡，路经江苏句容白兔镇，远眺茅山风景秀丽，不由触景生情，作了《过句容道》一诗：

“渐入茅山境，来当农暇时。

但看初日上，未觉朔风轻。

碧敛寒塘水，红垂野树枝。

江南经几郡，民俗欲周知。”
